Project:
Potsdamer
Platz, Berlin, Germany
Potter
and Soar's architectural wire mesh range brings to the 21st
century a whole new concept in modern high quality materials
that are being successfully used to make ceilings and soffits
as attractive as the walls and facades supporting them.
From
reflective textures created by electro-polished stainless
steel woven wire to wave effects which can offer two or
three dimensional views, the material can be used to brilliant
effect in conjunction with modern lighting techniques.
Potsdamer
Platz development in Berlin has very successfully utilised
architectural mesh (Amazon 4626) to create a very large
ceiling area with a cost effective and attractive suspended
ceiling, whilst still allowing lighting from behind.
This was achieved by using a mesh with high open area (79%)
that still offers a visible ceiling from eye level due to
the configuration of the architectural woven wire. In addition
Stainless Steel 316L is non-flammable which of course is also
hugely important.
This innovative project has served as the catalyst for many
high profile ceiling projects which require an aesthetically
pleasing, cost effective solution to large ceiling areas
whilst achieving the necessary fire rating.
